Toad in the hole with thyme.

This is a firm family favourite...


Quick and easy !


For the batter,


175ml skimmed milk

140g plain flour

1 heaped tsp ginger and garlic paste

2 heaped tsps dried thyme

pinch of salt

2 eggs


Pack of sausages of your choice. I used chicken.


Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix to make a smooth batter.

Cook a pack of 10 chicken sausages briefly in a frying pan to brown them.

Add the sausages to an oven proof dish and pour on the batter.

Cook at 190 C for 40 mins or until golden brown.


TIP Using chicken sausages reduces the fat content and will also give the dish a lot of protein.
